The History of Wellington Square
Over 21 years serving the Wallan community — and still growing.

Doors Open
Wellington Square proudly opened its doors in November 2004 as the first indoor shopping centre in Mitchell Shire. Spanning 6,811m² and hosting a diverse array of retailers, Wellington Square swiftly established itself as a cornerstone of the Wallan township.

A Home for the Library
During the design phase, we collaborated with Mitchell Shire Library to address the community's need for library services in Wallan. In a gesture of support, we offered Mitchell Shire Council 10 years of rent-free occupancy followed by an additional 10 years at half the market rate — a contribution valued at over $1.5 million.

Growing with Wallan
As Wallan continues to grow, Wellington Square remains committed to meeting the increasing local demand. Our shopping centre also serves as a significant employer for local residents, with 24 stores, eateries and services now calling Wellington Square home.

Expansion Rezoning Submitted
A rezoning application was submitted to Mitchell Shire Council in December 2024 to more than double Wellington Square to over 17,000m². The expansion will bring restaurants, retail, an office building, entertainment and nightlife to Wallan — plus a larger library for Mitchell Shire.
